Miles grew up in Richfield, a small city in central Utah. He knows how to ride a horse and do farm work. He graduated from BYU in 1971 with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in 1976 and taught English and counseled students in the public schools for 16 years before coming to BYU in 1987. Since then, he has worked with students in the Honor Code Office, Student Leadership and most recently with those in International Student Services.
He served a mission in Scotland, the land of his grandmother. He also has ties to England, the land of his grandfather and Norway, the land of his maternal grandmother, and he loves meeting and interacting with international students and scholars.
He is married as is the father of six children and grandfather to 20 grandchildren. He says, “Life is good!”
