Reporting Your Arrival

You must report your arrival to campus if you are:

  • a new student with a BYU I-20 or DS-2019 who transferred from another U.S. school,
  • returning from a leave of absence with a new I-20 or DS-2019, or
  • re-entering the U.S. with a new BYU I-20 or DS-2019 to regain student status.

Report your arrival by:

  • Collecting your required information
    • passport
    • I-20 or DS-2019
    • electronic I-94 Arrival Record generated by CBP (Customs and Border Protection) if entered the U.S. by air OR requested and paid for if entered by land
    • local address, including apartment number and postal zip code, even if it is temporary. (Remember to keep your contact information updated in your MyBYU.)
  • Logging into our eForms and completing and submitting a New Student Check-in. This is found under the "F-1 Student Services" menu for I-20 holders or "J-1 Student Services" menu for DS-2019 holders.

Our office will then update your government record and change your status to ACTIVE.
